Every year the Chairman and the Committee of TRIC decide who they think
deserves the TRIC Special Award and it is getting harder to choose. The
winner this year was HAVE I GOT NEWS FOR YOU… The programme was first
broadcast on 29th September 1990, therefore next year sees its 20th
Anniversary. 36 series and 308 episodes have been transmitted to date and
the programme continues to go from strength to strength. Ian Hislop is the
only person to have appeared in every episode. To date, Alexander Armstrong
has guest hosted more episodes than anyone else, his tally currently stands
at 13. And Kirsty Young, and Jack Dee have each hosted the programme seven
times. Someone who will never be asked back to host the show more than once,
(but you never know) is a certain Mr Blessed.
A big thank you to the Rt Honourable Charles Kennedy MP for presenting this
Award.
