Every year the Chairman and the Committee of TRIC decide who they think deserves the TRIC Special Award and it is getting harder to choose. The winner this year was a well deserved individual, a national treasure, Barbara Windsor MBE. 2010 marks a very special year for this young lady - she celebrates 60 years in show business. More recently she has clocked up over 1600 episodes in a certain soap and this month we will hear her voice as the doormouse in 'Alice in Wonderland', Tim Burton's new feature.
A true Eastender, she made her stage debut at the age of 13 in pantomime and has appeared on London's West End and on Broadway.
Her many hundreds of TV appearances include hit series, The Rag Trade, Dads Army, Worzel Gummidge and One Foot in the Grave. And film appearances include the original Belles of St Trinians and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. But we will always remember her for her antics in the Carry on Films.... (How many times have we all seen that bra fly off!) |

Her friend and former Landlady of the 'Queen Vic', Anita Dobson,
presented Barbara Windsor with the TRIC Special Award 2010.
